The Lagos State Governor, Gov Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has pointed out that technology may soon be a major driver of security in Lagos. He stated this during his official address to the entire state at the 15th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security organized by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF which held in Lagos yesterday.
He noted that his government has continued to foster engagements with the various security agencies in the state. ‘These engagements have yielded results as we have developed a mechanism in which every agency works in synergy with others to improve the state’s security architecture.’

On technology innovation, the Governor disclosed: ‘We are currently restructuring the 112 and 767 Emergency Call Centre to enable it deliver on its mandate and earn the confidence of the people of Lagos state. In line with our vision of a 21st Century megacity, we will deliver a Call Center that is truly responsive.’
‘On a related note, we are also progressing on our goal of installing a network of internet-enabled security surveillance cameras across the metropolis. Ultimately, the most important contribution we can make to security is what we do to prevent it from being disrupted in the first place’.
The Governor used the opportunity to praise the generous contributions of donors towards the Fund as he appealed for more donors to come on board. ‘Without you, we would not be able to do as much as we are doing – your contributions have greatly made a difference. There is however much more still to be done. We need more donors and more contributions. I am making a special appeal to the private sector and to citizens and other stakeholders in Lagos state to add your name to the donors’ list of the LSSTF. And to our existing donors, I believe there is room for more support.’
