NSCDC ANAMBRA STATE COMMAND NEW PERMANENT SITE GOES GREEN AS TREE PLANTING EXERCISE IS EMBARKED ON

In a bid to conserve natural resources and intensify fight against environmental degradation, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command has embarked on tree planting exercise towards environmental sustainability .

 

The exercise carried out at the new State Headquarters Isiagu Awka today 26/ 8/ 2021 was kicked off by the state commandant *Comdt. Vincent Ogu JP* accompanied by all the 3 Area Commanders and 21 Divisional Officers who planted trees of different species.

In his remarks, Mr. Ogu said the Command took a bold step considering important role trees play in ecosystem and in the environment by reducing Carbon footprint, providing shade and beautifying the surroundings.

 

The State Commandant also decried the negative effects of climate change caused by felling of trees and noted that trees planted would provide long-term benefits to Personnel of the Corps including food Security, climate stability , natural filtration and erosion control.
