Re – Emphasises on non – Participation of Quasi – Security Outfits In Election Security

The Supervising Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Western States, DIG Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa mni, visited Zamfara State Command on Thursday 23rd February, 2023 for Election Monitoring and Supervision.

The DIG while in Zamfara State addressed Officers on election duty, Heads of Security Agencies, Chairmen/ representatives of all the Political Parties, Religious Leaders, Civil Society Organisations and the Press.

The DIG said he was in the state as part of the election monitoring and supervision tour to North western states to address officers and other stakeholders on what are expected from all and sundry before, during and after the elections. The DIG added that, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc(+, NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR is fully committed to ensuring peaceful and conducive atmosphere for free, fair and credible elections which is part of the aspiration of President Mohammadu Buhari GCFR.

The DIG called on all Political Parties and their candidates to Play the Political game according to the laid down rules, and also talked to their supporters on the need to be law abiding at all level to shun all violence activities before, during and after elections. He equally appealed to all stakeholders to continue to support partner adding that, Police and other with the security Agencies, noting that, Police will continue to be professional by being non partisan.

The DIG has equally re – emphasised on the existing order excluding all Quasi – Security Outfits from Participating in the election security, and advised such organisations to keep away from any election security duty. The DIG further assured that, the Police will work in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Nigeian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Department of Security Servic (DSS), NSCDC, Nigerian Customs, Nigerian Immigration, Nigerian Correctional Service, FRSC and NDLEA respectively.
