Following the exclusive investigation and interview session with management of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), Commandant Michael Ogar of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, River State Command ordered his men to invade the Electricity Company in an unlawful order over unpaid N6million debt.
According to Com. Innocent Douglas the Deputy General Secretary South-South/South-East, Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, Rivers State, who disclosed to Newsbustang.tv correspondent via phone conversation itemizing the invasion and unlawful act by the officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps attached to Rivers State command led by Commandant Michael Ogar, who gave a directive to the armed NSCDC officers to invade one of the offices of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company that gives light to the NSCDC Rivers State command.
According to comrade Douglas, the NSCDC Rivers State Command is owing a debt of 6 million naira, for which the entire management of PHED has written several letters to dialogue with the commandant before taking an internal decision to reduce the money to 3 million naira being a federal government establishment with the motive that since both paramilitary and the agencies are working for the same government of the federation.
The sector command was issued this notice, and since they failed to comply with payment, the management of PHED decided to isolate the command’s office in order to give light to others.
Meanwhile, 3 weeks after isolation and slashing down debt in half, suddenly, officers and men of NSCDC attached to Rivers State invaded PHED premises and assaulted staff, and customers sitting down to complain on a different matter regarding lighting issues in their various communities were molested; above all, a pregnant woman was flogged and beaten by the officers. Meanwhile, she was receiving treatment at the hospital as of the date of this report, according to PHED management.

In addition, PHED staff were locked in the cell at NSCDC State Command in Port Harcourt for hours before the regional manager went there to address the issue and was also assaulted by the commandant as he was chased out of the compound. However, the management of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution had earlier reported the matter to the Nigeria Police Force, the Rivers State Command, and the Department of State Security Service for the protection of lives, property, and the wellbeing of their staff, who had been harassed by the NSCDC in the state.
To this end, the management of PHED seized this medium to appeal to the Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for immediate justice to prevail on Commandant Michael Ogar following the unlawful act recorded in River State, which has never happened in history with a clash between NEPA staff and security apparatus.
