INCOMING EZE, CHIEF IFEANYI PETERS: ‘I AM HERE TO SERVE’; CORONATION HOLDS NEXT MONTH
Lagos-based Igbo businessman and humanitarian, Chief Ifeanyi Peters is enjoying a rousing welcome among the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos. This is after he got the nod to be the incoming Eze of Dangote refinery community in Lekki, Lagos. He will be coronated into the office next month, Trek Africa Newspaper can report.
In his interview at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo HQ, Surulere, Lagos, Chief Ifeanyi Peters told Trek Africa Newspaper, ‘The Supreme Council of Chiefs, Ohanaeze Ndigbo welcomed me to be one of them as Eze representing Dangote refinery community in Lekki, Lagos. Every month, I do feed 200 people in my area. I don’t know if I was being monitored or some people told them. There is a good relationship between Igbos and the natives. So one day I got a call that based on what I have been doing I will be honoured. This is how I got to being Eze as a peacemaker and humanitarian. There is no sentiment.’
On his plans upon getting the role, Chief Peters stated: ‘I will do my best and leave the rest to God to make sure that Igbos are united as Ohanaeze which means in all. By God’s Grace, I am blessed. I want people around me to be blessed as well. That’s why I am there. I am the CEO of Grace and Mercy Foundation. I will also ensure Peace as I am also a Mayor of Peace of United Nations. If UN can do that, you see what I can do.’
‘We are here to serve as Eze. I don’t have any interest in politics. All I want to achieve is no. 1 peace, no. 2 peace, and no. 3 peace. I want to be remembered for touching lives. That is quality leadership. The coronation is coming up next month’, the incoming Eze concluded.
