CAVB Hails NCS for Hosting 39th Women’s Volleyball Championship
The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) has commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) of its exceptional role in the successful hosting of the 39th edition of the CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship held in Abuja from April 1-14, 2025.
The CAVB communicated its commendation to the NCS through a formal letter of appreciation.
Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
In a congratulatory message to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, CAVB President Bouchra Hajij emphasized the significance of the tournament, describing it as a historic milestone. She noted that, for the first time in many years, the championship was held outside North Africa—underscoring its growing reach and impact across the continent.
Hajij who underscored the transformative impact of the event praised the NCS for setting a new benchmark in sports hosting, redefining excellence and inclusivity on the continental stage.

The NCS, under its visionary leadership, clearly demonstrated that sport transcends mere competition, serving instead as a powerful vehicle for social transformation.

The CAVB also hailed the NCS as “an ample and able partner of African Volleyball,” noting that the 2025 edition of the tournament would leave a lasting legacy and serve as a model for future championships across the continent.
