The Akwa Ibom State Police Command is set to intensify efforts in enforcing third-party vehicle insurance compliance from February 1st, 2025, in line with Section 68 of the Insurance Act and Section 312 of the 1945 Motor Vehicle (Third Party Insurance) Act.

This directive, underscored by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun PhD, NPM, mandates that all vehicle owners must possess valid third-party insurance before operating on public roads. This initiative aims to safeguard road users, enforce accountability, and uphold traffic laws.

Vehicles without valid third-party insurance will be impounded and taken to the nearest police station, only to be released upon presentation of valid insurance documents. Officers involved in the enforcement are strictly warned against unprofessional conduct, with severe disciplinary action awaiting any form of extortion.

Vehicle owners are urged to comply with this legal obligation to avoid inconvenience. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains dedicated to ensuring safety, enforcing the rule of law, and enhancing public trust across the state.
